Basel Dragons U11 —Zuoz Tournament Runner-up

Anusha Parcha1 Jun - 08:11

Luxembourg. Zurich. And the Dragon flies on.

From the mountain-framed pitches to the heart shown on every ground, what a journey this has been for our young Dragons!

We travelled as 8 of our own squad, joined by the brilliant Thomas, Leo and Alexis from Romandie — and what a unit you all became. A special mention too for Ali (Hadis' brother) who stepped in and delivered some crucial wickets when it mattered most. That is what the Dragon family is about.

*3 wins from 4 games.* same points as winner, but losing the winners cup by netrunrate, But the number that means most to us coaches isn't the tally — it's what happened after that first defeat to Luxembourg.

We sat together, reset, and built a plan. A fielding setup, a bowling-to-field strategy, a batting order with clear intent — and then you executed it. Against a strong Luxembourg side, you came back and showed exactly what this team is made of. That comeback will stay with us far longer than any scoreline.

The all-round win that followed against a strong opponent? Simply outstanding.

None of this happens without the incredible people around you. *Anjuman* stood for 144 overs of umpiring — giving every single player honest, fair and constructive feedback throughout. *Usman* worked tirelessly off the field helping kids sharpen their skills. *Habib and Bappa* kept the scoring books running with care and precision. And to every parent on that boundary — your cheering, your presence, your energy — it matters. More than you know.

For the numbers, head to *CricHeroes* ? — but remember, stats will never capture that one stop in the outfield that changed the momentum, the wicket that shifted the morale of an innings, the batter who stayed and stayed and made the bowler crack — or the voice from beyond the rope that lifted a tired fielder or the Zurich club members cheering for us against Luxembourg, Cricket lives in those moments.

We are so incredibly proud of this group. As coaches, we also saw areas to grow — and we will work on every one of them together. That is the Dragon way.

*Luxembourg. Zurich. And the Dragon flies on. *
