Another successful year with the Dragons

The Basel Dragons Junior Cricket Club had a dynamic and successful year in 2024, marked by significant progress in player development, coaching, infrastructure, and community engagement.

Key Highlights:

  • Expansion of Teams: The club established an adult team for the Senior League, alongside U7-U19 age groups.
  • Junior Cricket Achievements: The U11, U13, and U17 teams won the Junior CSPL in Switzerland.
  • Girls' Cricket Growth: Over 25 junior girls are actively training and competing, with dedicated teams at U10 and senior levels.
  • Refugee Integration: U19 and adult teams helped integrate refugee players, and the club donated cricket kits to Solothurn Cricket Club.
  • Coaching Excellence: With 13 active coaches, including ECB Level 2 and Level 1 certified trainers, the club continues investing in coaching quality.
  • Infrastructure Development: Increased demand for grounds and indoor facilities led to discussions with Basel SportsAmt for additional access.
  • Community Engagement: Events like the annual Nightfury tournament and Annual Day (Dec 15, 2024) strengthened club unity.
  • Financial Challenges & Plans: Expenses exceeded income in 2024, prompting an increase in subscription to support the CHF 8,000 - 11,000 investment plan for 2025, including: New cricket mats and nets, Trailers for transportation, Additional ground rentals etc.
  • Fee Adjustment: A modest increase in annual subscriptions to CHF 300 per player(CHF 200 per sibling) was approved.
